Director Biography
Homayoon Mobaraki is a Swedish filmmaker drawn to stories that explore the complexity of human nature. His films span genres and are united by compelling characters, emotional honesty, and cinematic storytelling.
His work spans psychological thrillers, drama, documentaries, and commercial productions, united by a commitment to authentic performances, visual precision, and meaningful storytelling. Whether intimate or ambitious in scale, every project begins with the same goal: to tell stories that feel truthful, emotionally resonant, and unforgettable.
Every filmmaker has a story. Mine began with a promise.
In 2016, I lost my father to cancer. Before he passed away, I promised him that one day he would see one of my films on the big screen. Cancer took him before that dream could become a reality.
His passing changed the direction of my life. What began as a promise became a purpose. It gave me the determination to pursue filmmaking with everything I had and to dedicate my life to telling stories that matter.
Since then, every project has been another step forward, not only toward becoming a better filmmaker, but toward honoring the promise I made. Every film reminds me why I started this journey and why every story deserves the same care, commitment, and respect.
My father never had the chance to see my work on the big screen, but every film I make is part of the promise that continues to guide me.
For me, every story begins with people. Before I think about camera angles, lighting, or visual style, I want to understand the characters, their choices, their relationships, and what they are willing to fight for. Everything else grows from that foundation.
I never approach a project by asking what genre it belongs to. I ask what the story needs. A psychological thriller, a drama, a documentary, or a commercial production each demands its own rhythm, tone, and visual language. My responsibility as a director is to find the approach that best serves the story rather than impose a style upon it.
I believe audiences remember how a film made them feel long after they forget individual scenes. That is why I strive for authentic performances, thoughtful visual storytelling, and films that create an emotional connection without telling the audience what to think.
Cinema allows us to experience another person’s world, if only for a short time. That possibility continues to inspire me every time I step onto a set.

Inspired by true events, REMOTE FARMS is an emotionally gripping drama thriller that explores the human cost of modern slavery through an intimate and deeply personal story. While confronting one of the world’s hidden humanitarian crises, the film is ultimately about family, resilience, hope, and the extraordinary courage required to stand against a system designed to break the human spirit.
