Homayoon Mobaraki is a Swedish writer and director drawn to stories that explore the complexity of human nature. Rather than being defined by a single genre, he develops films that challenge, entertain, and connect with audiences through compelling characters, emotional honesty, and cinematic storytelling.
His work spans psychological thrillers, dramas, documentaries, and commercial productions, united by a commitment to authentic performances, visual precision, and meaningful storytelling. Whether intimate or ambitious in scale, every project begins with the same goal: to tell stories that feel truthful, emotionally resonant, and unforgettable.
His films have taken him beyond Sweden, with productions filmed in Africa and stories shaped by diverse cultures and perspectives. His work has received international recognition, with Unborn Souls earning multiple awards and festival selections.
His latest short film, Remote Farms, is currently under consideration at several international film festivals and has advanced to the next round of judging at the Oxford Film Festival. The project also serves as the proof of concept for a completed feature screenplay and was presented in the Palm Springs International ShortFest Film Market Video Library.
Alongside narrative filmmaking, Homayoon directs documentaries, commercial films, and branded content for companies and organizations. He is currently developing several feature film and television projects and is seeking to collaborate with producers, production companies, financiers, and creative partners who share a passion for ambitious stories with international reach.
Alongside his completed films, Homayoon continues to develop a slate of original feature film projects. Although each story explores a different world and genre, they are united by compelling characters, moral complexity, and emotionally driven storytelling.

Why I make Films
Every filmmaker has a story. Mine began with a promise.
In 2016, I lost my father to cancer. Before he passed away, I promised him that one day he would see one of my films on the big screen. Cancer took him before that dream could become a reality.
His passing changed the direction of my life.
What began as a promise became a purpose. It gave me the determination to pursue filmmaking with everything I had and to dedicate my life to telling stories that matter.
Since then, every project has been another step forward not only toward becoming a better filmmaker, but toward honoring the promise I made. Whether I am directing a feature film, a documentary, or a commercial production, I approach every story with the same belief: a film should make people feel something long after they leave the screen.
For me, filmmaking is more than a profession. It is a lifelong commitment to creating stories with honesty, emotion, and purpose.
My father never had the chance to see my work on the big screen, but every film I make is a reminder of the promise that continues to guide me.
